Controller Capabilities

High Speed Pipeline

Memjet's custom controllers provide a powerful development platform for OEM brands. All Memjet controllers include Memjet's high-speed print pipeline which runs on dedicated hardware and is optimized to achieve Memjet's 60-page-per-minute print speed continuously. Whether leveraging the fully functional single-function capabilities, adding and customizing modules or porting existing firmware architectures, Memjet's controllers are designed to optimize performance, streamline development processes and reduce overall controller board costs by maximizing controller-chip-based functionality. Each controller comes with a software development kit that enables brands to configure and customize the controller for a wide range of applications from consumer photo devices to floor-standing office MFPs.

Flash/DDR Memory

Contains a 16/32 bit memory controller supporting DDR1/DDR2 dynamic random access memory options. Also includes a direct access, system packet interface (SPI) and firmware module for supporting multiple sizes of Flash/ROM.

Display Interface

Supports a variety of front-panel video-display devices from character-based LCD displays to graphical, XGA resolution displays, including native thin-film (TFT) panels and Smart panels.

Device Buttons and LEDs

Provides multiple interfaces for supporting front panel buttons and LEDs.

General Purpose I/O and Device Sensors

More than 20 general purpose I/O interfaces suitable for communication with user interface buttons, sensors, and other product elements.

Multiple Motor Drivers

10 motor controllers supporting DC (including brushless) and stepper motors used in paper path, scanning, maintenance and other product operations.

Drive Motor/Roller Encoder

Roller encoder enables the printer to accurately measure the paper movement, ensuring the accurate placement of dots on the paper at various speeds.

Printhead Data

Provides drop firing instructions for a Memjet, A4/Letter size, five-channel printhead. Supports data for up to 900 million dots per second.

USB Interface to Memjet Controllers

Parses and passes page data to down-stream controllers in order to drive higher speeds, broader page widths or other multiple printhead solutions.

Network and Wireless Interfaces

Delivers Ethernet 10/100 functionality and communication. Provides interfaces to wireless options such as 802.11b/g/n, 802.3, Bluetooth, IrDA, IrSimple.

USB Computer Interface

A high speed USB 2.0 interface for connecting the printer directly to a host computer.

PictBridge

Enables support for direct printing from digital cameras.

Storage USB Card & Other

Supports a wide range of common external memory cards interfaces for digital photography and other data applications.
